History of our company

from the beginnings we tell about the creation of our office
In words

The beginnings of GDP ZT GmbH go back to the year 1983. Mr. DI Dr.techn. Ernst Garber founded at that time a civil engineering office with the main focus on special civil engineering after his time as university assistant at the Institute for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering of the Graz University of Technology, which lasted more than 8 years. Already in 1988 DI Dr.techn. Jörg Dalmatiner, who also worked for more than 8 years as a university assistant at the Institute for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering of the Graz University of Technology and afterwards for several years in Salzburg, joined the office as a partner. The resulting engineering consortium Garber-Dalmatiner dealt mainly with topics in the fields of soil mechanics, geotechnics and rock mechanics.  In accordance with the increasing number of orders, the office was also continuously strengthened in terms of personnel. In 2002, in addition to the head office in Graz, a branch office was opened in Villach/Carinthia with at that time initially one and soon thereafter two permanent employee(s).

In 2006 two long-time employees were integrated into the office as partners and Garber, Dalmatiner & Partner ZT-OG was founded. Mr. DI Dr.techn. Roman Marte, who like the two senior partners had previously worked for many years at the Institute for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering of the Graz University of Technology, and Mr. DI Franz Ruprecht, who had already been working in the office since 1994, thus strengthened the management and the areas of expertise were also further expanded. In addition to the topics of special foundation engineering, static-constructive topics were also increasingly dealt with.

Also in 2006, another branch office was opened in Oberalm/Salzburg, where initially two permanent employees worked.

On July 23, 2008, the office was hit by a hard blow. Completely surprisingly and unexpectedly, DI Dr. techn. Ernst Garber passed away. As a result, the office was renamed GDP ZT-OG and the Carinthian branch office was moved from Villach to Klagenfurt.

In 2012, the already long-standing office partner DI Dr.techn. Roman Marte received his appointment as a full university professor at the Institute for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering at the Graz University of Technology. Dr. Marte remained associated with our office as a partner.

In the course of the now necessary restructuring, the GDP ZT-OG was reorganized into the GDP ZT GmbH.

In 2014, the three long-time employees DI Dr.techn. Christoph Wiltafsky, DI Dr.techn. Florian Scharinger and DI Roland Lüftenegger became partners in GDP ZT GmbH.

In the same year, a third branch office was opened in Vienna, which is currently serviced from Graz.

In 2015 we were able to move into our new Graz premises at Orpheumgasse 15.

With the turn of the year 2017/2018, our senior partner of many years, Dr. Dalmatiner, transitioned into a well-deserved retirement. However, Dr. Dalmatiner will continue to be available to us in the future with his many years of experience.

In the course of the necessary restructuring, the two partners Dr. Wiltafsky and Dr. Scharinger were appointed managing directors of GDP ZT GmbH in addition to Mr. DI Ruprecht. Furthermore, Ing. Wolfram Dalmatiner MSc. joined the office as a new shareholder.

In the meantime the number of staff has grown to more than 50 highly qualified employees from the fields of civil engineering, geology and geography. In accordance with the constant growth, new fields of activity have been continuously added to the original fields of activity, which are successfully covered by us. The subject areas thus range from special geotechnical, soil mechanics issues, the development and project planning of surface drainage concepts to static-constructive tasks, and this in all project phases, from development to construction to constructional aftercare. With regard to the geographical extent of our activities, we are basically active worldwide, with the main focus on Austria and the surrounding area.
