In words
Our annual exchange of experiences took place this year on February 9 and 10, 2023 in Graz. Employees from all locations met and presented exciting topics.
The following topics were covered in the fields of earthworks and subsurface exploration:
- Determination of consistencies and bedding densities in the field.
- BAWPL 2023 as well as discussion on dealing with contamination during prospecting
- ÖN B 2205 (earthworks) – excavation classes and soil groups
- Exercise “Soil approach” incl. comparison with available grading curves
By means of practical reports experiences from the last year were discussed:
- Practical examples of open dewatering with pump sumps in different soils.
- Gypsum damage case
- Remediation of landslide near A13 Brenner motorway
- Ettringite formation in anchor cement
- Ductile pile – test load, bearing capacities and digitization
In order to expand the proven GDP quality across sites, the following topics were discussed:
- GDP appraisal structure NEW
- Communication strategies in daily construction site operations – experience from almost 30 years
- Near-surface geothermal energy – GDP-IST status and outlook
- Quality assurance for inclinometers (measurement and evaluation)
- GDP in structural engineering – overview of previous projects
On the second day, the team of geologists focused specifically on the following topics:
- Quality Assurance Department of Geology
- New drilling profile program
- Geological processing of rock slopes – classical field work and application of new computer-aided methods
- Demonstration of double ring infiltrometer
On the second day, the team of civil engineers focused specifically on the following topics:
- Quality assurance for internally developed calculation programs
- Calculation methods taking into account component and soil stiffnesses
- Basics for the determination of modulus of subgrade reaction and allowable soil pressures
- Case studies for the determination of modulus of subgrade reaction and allowable soil pressures
