Waste Incinaration Plant Arnoldstein, Carinthia (Austria)

Project overview:

The company “Kärntner Restmüllverwertungs GmbH” constructed a waste incineration plant with thermal dissipation in Arnoldstein, Carinthia. On the site the subsoil consists of scoriaceous material from an ore dressing and underlying river sediments classified as loose to medium dense.

Based on a detailed site investigation, our company designed a concept for the foundation of the plant. The implemeted actions included ground improvement and homogenisation of the subsoil by vibro replacement, and to some extents soil replacement. During construction of the entire ground improvement, our company provided geotechnical consulting and supervision.


Services provided:

  • Geotechnical expertise with the comparison of different foundation systems
  • Development of an additional site investigation programme in order to optimise the chosen ground improvement methods (soil replacement and vibro replacement)
  • Geotechnical site supervision during the soil improvement works and the construction of the foundation
